Parasanti Inc. Completes Defense Innovation Unit’s (DIU’s) Airfield Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Mitigation Project

Austin, TX — September 2024 — Parasanti Inc., a leader in AI-driven autonomous solutions, proudly announces the successful completion of the Airfield Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Mitigation project in support of Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). The team consisted of Parasanti as the prime contractor, KUNGFU.AI to provide AI/ML development expertise, and various sensor providers. This groundbreaking initiative enhances FOD detection and mitigation capabilities, ensuring safer and more efficient operations for U.S. military airfield operations.

The FOD Mitigation project addresses the urgent challenge of preventing FOD from damaging aircraft and disrupting mission-critical operations. Parasanti’s innovative solution leverages real-time sensor fusion, advanced machine learning algorithms, and edge computing to identify FOD risk more effectively to mitigate events on aircraft, thus improving airfield safety and operational readiness.

The system integrates multiple sensors and external data sources and applies AI techniques to enhance FOD detection and predict risk on airfield taxiways and runways. This ensures more accurate FOD detection, and by detecting and mitigating FOD risks in real time, the solution significantly reduces the likelihood of damage to critical military assets, including the F-35 and other advanced aircraft. This helps to maintain the operational readiness of U.S. military forces.

Building on the success of this project, Parasanti is exploring additional improvements, including further fine-tuning AI models for even greater accuracy and expanding sensor integration. Plans are underway to transition the current prototype into a fully operational production system for use across U.S. military airfields.
